Electronic court fee payments will be introduced by HM Courts and Tribunal Service on 20 September at the Civil Court Users Association conference. The service, dubbed “Payment by Account” (PbA) will allow court users to make advance or arrears payments electronically for any service purchased via the payment method.
The service will be launched to all repeat business customers of the Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) following a successful pilot conducted among a small number of current high volume repeat business customers.
The top 300 active users of court service will be invited to apply for a PbA account in Autumn 2011, with HMCTS planning to achieve a significant increase in transactions via this medium by April 2012.
Brian Havercroft, chairman of the Civil Court Users Association (CCUA), said: “It is pleasing that HMCTS has decided to use our conference to unveil this service and the Association, which successfully lobbied for its continuance regardless of cost cutting, is aware of the research carried out to ensure users requirements are catered for.”
The CCUA conference will take place at the Leicester Marriott hotel. Confirmed speakers include district judge Paul Mildred, president of the Association of District Judges, and Kevin Sadler, director of Civil, Family & Tribunals, HMCTS.
