The OFT conducted formal consultation on proposed revisions to its Debt Collection Guidance between 10 March and 2 June 2011. As part of this process, the OFT contacted various interested parties about the problem of inaccurate/incomplete data used in debt recovery and invited views and information on unfair business practices and good practice in this sector, via the OFT website.
As part of the formal consultation process, the OFT hosted a workshop on 8 April 2011 to obtain feedback from key stakeholders, including those representing consumers and parties subject to the provisions of the guidance. The OFT attended various events and speaking engagements during the consultation period to seek views from a wide range of interested parties. All information received in response to this consultation is now being reviewed with a view to producing a comprehensive and focused final version of the revised Debt collection guidance by Autumn 2011. A summary of responses to the consultation will also be published in Autumn 2011.
